Resolution of the Bawku issue is a top priority—Mahama. When he takes office on January 7, 2025, President-elect John Dramani Mahama has stated that one of his first priorities will be the Bawku issue.
Given Ghana’s closeness to terrorist operations, he believes that a volatile Bawku portends disaster for the country’s citizens.
John Draani Maham wants the feeding parties to realize that long-term confrontations are bad for everyone and that Bawku needs peace.
“Bawku is going to be one of the major issues we confront,” the president-elect told reporters at his office. Prior to the arrival of this government, we had been able to keep the calm, and certain security errors caused the current situation.
Examining that as soon as feasible is one of the things we will undertake. Resolution of the Bawku issue is a top priority—Mahama.
Fortunately, I received my first security briefing this morning. You can be certain that Bawku was one of the topics raised, so we will address it and consider ways to resolve the situation. Because the theater where the terrorist threat is occurring is located directly across our border from Bawku, Bawku is especially vulnerable to external terrorist attacks. The unstable character of the Bawku area will provide opportunities for entry in the event of any expected incursion. In order to conduct their business, people desire tranquility.
